Telehealth Appointments — See an Australian GP Online Today

A telehealth appointment is a consultation with a doctor by video or phone instead of in a clinic. At MyGPOnline, a 10-minute appointment with an AHPRA-registered Australian GP costs a flat $45, available 7 days a week — with same-day bookings usually available. It’s a private service (no Medicare rebate applies), so anyone in Australia can book, with or without a regular GP or Medicare card.

What can a telehealth appointment handle?

Anything that can be safely assessed by talking with you. The most common reasons Australians book telehealth:

Telehealth is not suitable for emergencies or anything needing a physical examination — in an emergency call 000, and when hands-on care is needed our GPs will say so and point you to a Family Doctor clinic near you.

How a telehealth appointment works

  1. Book online — choose a time that suits you; same-day slots are usually available, 7 days a week.
  2. Take the call — the GP phones or video-calls you at your appointment time. No app to install; a phone is enough.
  3. Get your outcome — advice, and where clinically appropriate an eScript, certificate or referral, delivered to your phone or email the same day.

Why book with MyGPOnline?

MyGPOnline is the telehealth arm of Family Doctor — Australia’s largest 100% GP-owned medical group, running more than 100 real clinics. That changes how we practise online: fixed transparent fees, prescriptions and certificates only when clinically appropriate, no drugs of dependence via telehealth, no backdated certificates, and a genuine escalation path into in-person care when you need it. We’re LegitScript-certified and every consultation is with an AHPRA-registered doctor.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a telehealth appointment cost?

$45 for a standard 10-minute GP consultation. Specific services have their own flat fees — $19 medical certificates, $39 prescriptions, $90 mental health (20 min), $100 after-hours. All fees are on the pricing page.

Is there a Medicare rebate for telehealth?

Not for this service — MyGPOnline is fully private, which is what lets us see anyone in Australia regardless of Medicare status or whether they have a regular GP. Medicare-rebated telehealth generally requires an established relationship with the practice.

Do I need a video camera?

No — consultations can be done by ordinary phone call where clinically appropriate. Video helps for anything visual like rashes or skin concerns.

Can the doctor refuse what I’m asking for?

Yes. You’re paying for a genuine clinical assessment — prescriptions and certificates are issued only when the doctor judges them appropriate. That’s exactly why the ones we issue are trusted.
